Henning Mankell coming to PBS

For three Sundays in May, one of mystery fiction's strongest characters will be brought to life for American viewers for the first time. Henning Mankell's Kurt Wallander will be featured locally on OETA starting May 10th and running the next 2 Sunday evenings.

Here are a couple of trailers for the series.

  1. I recently started reading these books on Pete's suggestion I love the books but I've tried to watch the first minisode three times and haven't been able to get through it, none of the characters match up with my image of them from the books and it just doesn't feel like Wallander's world to me.

  2. I agree somewhat. I found the first in the series to be very compressed and consequently I thought the characters lacked development, the plot was abbreviated, and all in all the story was not well-told. What I like about Wallender is the pace of the stories and the pace of the made-for-TV productions was off. I had hoped the pacing would be like what was done for Prime Suspect, which was also produced by BBC.
